Waterspout Outbreak - Key West, FL May 17th 2005 (c) 2005 - www.FloridaLightning.com
NWS in Key West posted a moderate risk for waterspouts on this day and everything looked like it was going to happen close to Key West. I kept watching the cloud lines all afternoon. Finally at about 5pm there was a short lived thin waterspout north of Cudjoe Key. Then a nice cell went up over Key West with a trailing cloud line streaming off to the east. All of the waterspouts developed directly on the updraft of this cell and just kept forming till sunset hours. We did not even count the funnels but I would estimate about eight or nine waterspouts total this evening.

Jim Edds is always nearby as also confirmed by the NWS in Key west
7:33 pm It`s already after sunset but they just keep forming...
At 7:54pm it`s almost dark and visibility is becoming a factor. A great couple of hours that made for some nice footage in 2005.
